Shiatsu

Deeply relaxing and invigorating individual fully clothed bodywork

Available in Little Baddow near Chelmsford and Danbury

Shiatsu is based on Eastern theories of how the body functions, and developed from ancient massage techniques used in Japan and China.  It now incorporates Western techniques and understanding to relieve tension and improve relaxation.  Comfortable pressure, rocking and stretches stimulate the body’s capacity for well being.  Traditionally, shiatsu is performed on a padded mat on the floor, and this has a number of advantages.  If you have difficulty getting up from the floor, I am happy to use a treatment couch.

I begin a session by asking you what you are hoping for in terms of outcome.  In the first session I will take time to ask about your health history.  Shiatsu is not a substitute for medical treatment, but many people notice benefits such as easing of symptoms from chronic conditions and improved sleep.

There are many different techniques available. How I conduct a session will depend on a number of factors such as whether you have a specific issue you would like me to work with, how much energy you feel you have and my own observations.  I see shiatsu as a collaborative process working towards the best outcome for you, so feedback during the session is important.

As part of my commitment to providing a professional service, I regularly undertake further training.  I am a Fellow of the Shiatsu Society(UK) and am registered with the Complementary and Natural Heathcare Council.  Since qualifying in 2001 I have attended workshops taught by internationally famous teachers including Ohashi, Kishi, Saul Goodman, Yamamoto and Patrick McCarty, as well as a postgraduate year with Bill Palmer and more recently, several workshops by Clifford Andrews and other British teachers.
